What is StudyMate?
StudyMate is a tool that students and teachers can use to create flashcards and review games. It is fully integrated with Canvas. Teachers and students can create “projects” that include facts, definitions, and/or questions to be included in the review games. Any teacher-created set created in a course is available for students to use. Usage statistics are available for the teacher, showing them how many times each student in the course has visited or viewed the project.
Why use it?
StudyMate is an easy to use tool for both students and staff. Just like flashcards, it can be useful in moving information from short-term to long-term memory, identifying topics that need more review, and memorizing basic or repetitive information.
How do I use it?
Teachers will want to publish the navigation button for StudyMate in their Canvas courses in order for students to use it. Then they can create a project and make it available to students.
Creating a Project for Review (Teachers and Students)
Watch the video below to learn how a teacher can make StudyMate available for their students and how teachers/students can create “projects” to use for review in a course.
Signing into the StudyMate app (Students)
Once a teacher has published the StudyMate navigation button in their Canvas course, students can use it. They can either create their own sets of flashcards or they can study those created by their teacher. Watch the video below to learn how to access StudyMate and sign into the StudyMate iPad app.
